Of Course You Can Do It

Posted On 2007-04-12 , 4:04 PM

Hello Paula here. All my life I have been a great believer in if you want or to do something it is achieveable as long as you strive for it. One gets a tremendous feeling when one finally gets what he or she has set out for.

Before I started school my father taught me to swim (dog paddle initially). He also taught me not to panic in water, to relax and float on my back, plus to tread water. When we went on holiday my dad would  say to me to swim across a river. I always set off and when I got tired I would just tread water and call out to my dad to come and help. Dad would dive in and swim out to me. When he drew along side  I would put my hands on his shoulders and kick. We always reached the other side. When we wanted to return we just repeated the same procedure. This we did for quite some time till I was able to get across any river unaided. Dad always said  "of course you can do it" hence the title of this blog.

As a teenager I noticed one day an advertisement of a circus coming to my home town and that there was to be a bucking bronco competition. I told my parents that I was going to enter and try and win it. Mum pleaded with me to not do it and dad said "go for it". Well the day finally arrived for me to attend the circus and my mum was disgusted with what I was wearing. In those days most women wore frocks or skirts not trousers! Crikey could you picture someone trying to ride a horse wearing a frock or skirt, stockings and high heeled shoes? Poor mum implored with me to change my mind and dad just stood in the back ground, said nothing but he did give the thumbs up sign. Well I went, I entered and I won the event. Yeah I beat the males and I was the only one to stay on for ten seconds. Actually I found the hardest part was getting off. However, I returned home with more money than when I went and was completely unscathed.

At the ripe ole age of fiftyeight years I jumped out of a plane at ten thousand feet. What an exhilarating experience. I was given the opportunity to have a go and I grabbed it. I definitely would not hesitate to do it again if another chance came up .Once again my poor mum was horrified not only for me jumping out of a plane but my husband (of thirtynine years) invited friends and family (before I had jumped) to come around home that night for a barbeque. It was to either celebrate my jumping out of a plane successfully or it was going to be a wake. Mum could not see the funny side of that.

Now in my advancing years that are going far too quickly I am determined to earn an income online. I have been constructing a website www.kiwigoldmine.com plus I have been reading, reading and doing more reading that I think I am suffering from information overload. Dear Eric has been ever sooo patient with me and I hope he can remedy the problem of not being able to get the website up and running soon. However with my site I intend earning a good income and hopefully help other people to do so as well.

Ahhh finally the site is up and running, thank you so much Eric. For those of you who do not know,  Eric  is my mentor. He has been really helpful and calm each lesson we have had together.
